Resuming a former life after almost decade in New York City ..."And I reflected, not for the first time, what a strange, small, distant country Australia is." (Bill Bryson, 'In a Sunburnt Country', p.155)

#33. happy birthday Mum
we had a nice celebration of Jean's birthday at Bondi today. It was nice to be able to celebrate it in person for the first time in almost a decade, last time being 2007.

#31.Catching up with JWH
It looks like we were having a coffee, but I bumped into the Rorters in the Qantas Club yesterday - I was on my way to Melbourne for a meeting, and they were on their way to Brisbane for tonight's game vs. the Broncos. Jared very kindly gave me his autograph for Maxi and even took the selfie himself. Seems like a very nice, humble guy. we chatted for a few minutes then my flight was called. can't say i wished them good luck, but I hope he scores a try or something.

#29. 2016 City to Surf
A beautiful day, as usual, for the City 2 Surf. We were the only runners from the 'team Sparke' this year.
Starting in the Blue group, Kate won in 68 (Red next year), Steve did 70 and Paul 74 (both Green).

#28. SeaLife Sydney Aquarium
A gray, cool, wintery Sunday (15 deg C, 60F), so we went to Sydney Aquarium at Darling Harbor. It was good, on a par with the National Aquarium in Baltimore and definitely a top Sydney attraction. Lots to see and quite interactive for the kids. Only negatives were it was crowded and you have to pass through the gift store to exit, like the Duty Free at Sydney Airport.
